John had a conference (yes, again) in Charleston this past week. John and I went by ourselves this time and the girls went to stay with Grandpa and Grandma. For those who don't realize it, this was the first time they have ever stayed away from home without one of us. They did well, but we did have a snag along the way. We were suppose to come back Thursday to get the girls and head for Augusta so John could give a speech Friday morning at Fort Gordon. But John's boss decided he would go to Augusta so we could stay an extra day in Charleston. The change did not go over well, but there really was nothing we could do about it.
John and I had a good time in Charleston. We stayed at Charleston Place. It is right across from The Market and right in the center of all the food. Great place when you don't want to drive in all that mess! lol The food was great! I did get to read an entire book, but honestly I was a bit bored without my girls.
The girls had a good time in Charlotte. They went to a park two mornings in a row!! We haven't even found one close to this house yet. I think we need to work on that one. They helped make an apple pie and cookies. I believe all-in-all they had a great time.
Changes are still being made here at the house. When we picked the girls up yesterday, we drove over to IKEA and bought John a new dresser. We've been talking about for, probably, six months. Yesterday was the day. It has made a huge difference in our closet already. I still need to work more on the closet, but I'm happy with the changes.
If you remember, Momma cat was having kittens Monday afternoon. One did not make it (John found it Tuesday night). The last time we saw Momma she had two kittens (one was the one that didn't make it). Tuesday morning just before we left, she brought up the kitten onto the deck while she ate. A few minutes later, Jesse looked out and found another kitten. Two kittens. When we came home yesterday afternoon, there were three tiny kittens on the deck. Two are boys and one is a girl. In four weeks, Momma will be getting fixed...we hope!!!

I'm glad the girls had a good time. Even with the snag along the way. I hope you and John enjoyed your time together. But, I get missing the kids too!
Good luck getting the cats fixed before you have more kittens!
