First Christmas Party of 2009

Yesterday was, what I call, the Drill Christmas Party. The Christmas Party for the Guard they hold during the monthly drill weekend. See...Drill Christmas Party. I have to say there were quite a few things missing that have been there in the past. The tables are usually decorated with poinsettias, this year it was some silver and gold glittery looking sticks with snowmen bunched together like a bouquet. Not the same. No dressing. We had, I think it was, chicken, but there was no dressing. I didn't have ham, but the girls ate all of theirs so I'm sure it was good. Last year there were two lines for the serving table and this year there was only one. When you have three to four hundred people just make two lines. Really it is not that difficult. Most of us can serve ourselves and don't need officers to do it for us. Should I mention the portion sizes were tiny? I don't think they believed that many people would be there. John told me they original had up about eight tables less but were told they would need more. We filled all the tables they eventually put out (last year they were scrambling to add tables while people were eating). I think they have a lot of good ideas each year, but the planning and execution of those ideas usually miss. John is saying he is going to volunteer me next year to be Mrs. Claus. I have warned him against it. lol
